tether-ball.org
An in-progress experimental website exploring history, memory, and archive practices. The text imagines counter-factual origins of the blacktop game tetherball. The website is presented as belonging to an organization dedicated to recording and preserving tetherball history.
tether-ball.org also enacts real archival practices by collecting different ‘true’ or external sources of tetherball information from around the web. In this way, the website attempts to explore how history, memory, archive, and knowledge is collected and read on the internet in particular.
The website flows between facetiousness, ‘trolling,’ and serious interrogations of the progress and record of history.
